Who I am
I am a Murfreesboro native who has experience working in Middle Tennessee. My therapy journey began at Lee University where I completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology. I then continued at Lee and completed my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy soon after. I am currently a doctoral candidate in the subject of Marriage and Family Therapy with an emphasis on Addiction Treatment and Research at Northcentral University.
I enjoy utilizing an Experiential approach to the therapeutic process. What is present in the room in a relationship and in emotion is always relevant. Before any feedback is given, the goal is to simply "be" in the room. I strive to provide an authentic experience in therapy where everyone feels connected throughout their therapeutic journey. There is no wrong answer, or any push to fit within a timeline in order to bolster long-term success

Therapy used
When working with clients, I employ two basic ideologies in order to meet clients where they are at. The first is Experiential Therapy in which the authentic experience is invited in the therapy room. This allows clients and therapist to each be present as they are, rather than how they feel they have to be. The second ideology used in session is Attachment Theory. From the early thinkings of the beginnings of the psychology, to current marital and relational research, Attachment Theory reaches for the intimate needs of each client that underlie the issues they bring into session. In this, therapy can be more than just dealing with symptoms, it can restore the hearts of those that need to be seen and known.
Authorship
Through my work with clients and their loved ones, I have grown a heart for the entire system of people involved in addiction. Many have felt as if there is no information or support for them. Through the books and articles I write, I hope to give insight and stability to everyone in the healing process. Each book represents a letter to a specific group that often feels disconnected from the recovery process to provide a voice to those that need it.
Experience
I have experience working with adolescents and adults with significant mental health and substance abuse diagnoses. My time in treatment programs has spanned from outpatient clinics for families, Intensive Outpatient programs for mental health and substance abuse, and Residential programs for severe mental health and substance abuse diagnoses. Often, treatment for substance abuse and mental health disorders is fragmented. However, I have experience in both the creation and maintenance of programs for individuals with these co-occurring disorders to ensure long-term recovery. I am also an author who focuses on the different ways that addiction treatment has been missed in the general population. I have been an Executive Contributor for Brainz Magazine, focused on addiction issues and recovery.
